‘Good Intentions’ is a song to rob banks to. Dirty, moody guitars, harrowing bass and drums push and pull you into an ominous world of shoplifting and crime. The chorus carries us in to a bridge that frees you from that tight-chested feeling in to something hopeful, before dropping back in to the depths of the killer verse. It’s a tale of devil-may-care self-destruction, made all the more appealing by Ali E’s rich vocals and the hypnotic swirl of organs in the background.

As much as ‘Good Intentions’ tells a personal story, the hellish recklessness of post-break up fall out, it also draws attention to the similarities between the law breakers and law makers, cashing in on military terms like ‘double barrel’ and ‘battle field’. ‘Good Intentions’ is a musical heist, robbing you of your ability to do anything but revel in its mesmerizing gaze and bone-chilling musicality.
